Performance artist The Dark Bob and EZTV’s Michael J. Masucci have joined forces to create a series of documentary film and online projects which portray and chronicle the rise of the influential performance art scene unique to Los Angeles, and its impact on contemporary art practices worldwide. The series title is “RECIPE FOR DISASTER”, which builds on the live event by the same name which The Dark Bob created and produced as part of Highways Performance Space’s 25th anniversary series last year.
Among the artists scheduled to appear in the first episode are artists Bob and Bob, John Fleck, Cheri Gaulke, Ulysses Jenkins, Suzanne Lacy, John Malpede, Richard Newton, Barbara T. Smith, Jeffrey Vallance, Johanna Went as well as critics/journalists Peter Frank and Kristine McKenna.
Additional artists, curators, and critics will be announced soon.
RECIPE FOR DISASTER Episode 1 began production this month with the filming of interviews with noted journalist/critic Kristine McKenna and pioneering performance artists and High Performance magazine associate editor Richard Newton.
