Dschungel!, 1997

Michael J. Masucci

For its 50th anniversary season, the Institute of Contemporary Art, London commissioned this outrageous but politically relevant satirical collaboration between British writer/performance artist Ronald Fraser-Munro and LA's video art group EZTV. The result was a controversial feature-length experimental digital film which premiered at the ICA that year.

This is the accompanying music video for the film.

Writer Fraser-Munro, a black British citizen, was concerned about the rise of Neo-Nazi groups in the U.K. and devised a storyline about a WW2-era Aryan-Nazi type who gets cryogenically frozen, only to wake up in Hollywood in 1997 as a black man. The role, played by Fraser-Munro himself as the Black Nazi leader, quickly rises up the ladder of the music industry to become a rock star.
